District 7

30 Years of Dedicated Service to San Juan County

San Juan County Fire Department, District 7, Center Point started in December 1979 and had an estimated 18 members at the time. Jerry Smiley was the first Chief of the department and is still an active member. Their first engine was a 1963 International which was replaced in 1985 by a Pierce GMC.

District 7 covers an area of 62 miles with four pieces of equipment and approximately 20 volunteer firefighters out of one station located on CR 2755 north of Aztec, NM.

District 7 serves San Juan County citizens on US Hwy 550 north of Aztec, NM as well as the citizens on NM 173.

District 7 has automatic aid agreements with District 3 & 10 and provides mutual aid support to Aztec FD when requested.
